OF NEW YORK CITY

Publicly Owned Private Spaces

SERVICES

Publicly owned Private Spaces of New York City© (POPSNYC) is a private company based in Queens, New York. We offer companies, institutions, governments, and individuals the ability to buy public land on streets all over New York City.

We assign small lots of land in public areas like streets, parks, and sidewalks. Our lots are perfect for the everyday New Yorker, just trying to get some space to their own in the vast and crowded urban jungle.

ABOUT US

Our company was founded by Noah Bassman, an artist and designer based in New York City. He was inspired by billionaires like Farris Wilks, Noam Gottesman, and countless others who put claims on or blocked access to vital public spaces. If they could take  public property, then why couldn't Mr. Bassman? And so, POPS of NYC was formed.

The Idea of claiming space that doesn't belong to you dates back centuries! One of the most prominent examples is Columbus, himself!
What started as an idea became a reality for POPS NYC when Mr. Bassman started marking up the streets of Northwestern Queens and claiming them as his own private property. Now, POPS NYC has grown to over 15 locations!
